Donald Derewecki brings over 35 years of supply chain experience to Solertis. Don most recently served as Assistant Vice President of TranSystems after TranSystems acquired his firm, Gross and Associates in 2008. As President of the firm, Don managed the acquisition process that led to the sale. Prior to Gross, Don ran his own solo consulting practice in distribution and also served as a Managing Associate at W.F. Friedman.
During his career, Don has led supply chain projects at companies including Lego Systems, Chanel, Church & Dwight, Victorinox Swiss Army Brands and dozens of other companies. He has studied, recommended and implemented material handling equipment solutions including multi-level, full case pick towers, vertical lift ASRS modules, narrow aisle storage, paperless operations using computer directed RF communications, mechanized picking for both piece picks and full case picks, print and apply technology and automated carton sortation.
Don has managed several simulation projects including one to validate and improve the design of a new facility and another to validate the productivity and throughput capacity of a distribution facility. He studied and recommended an operations upgrade for a 500,000 square foot distribution center. He also developed the processes, material flows, equipment recommendations and layouts for a new production facility in Mexico.
Don has a B.S. from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from Adelphi University. Recognized as a thought leader and expert, he has written warehouse operations related articles and is frequently quoted in supply chain professional publications. For the past four years, he developed the content for the annual warehouse operations survey for Logistics Management Magazine and led the survey webinar. Case studies that he has written have been published in two books. He has held leadership positions with Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals(CSCMP), Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), Institute of Management Consultants, and the Material Handling Society. He has been a speaker at many conferences and seminars.
